Early prognostic score for neurological outcome at 6 months after cardiac arrest treated with hypothermia
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction The diffusion of BLS (Basic Life Support) and ALS (Advanced Life Support) has improved survival in patients that experienced cardiac arrest (CA). In after-ROSC comatose patients Therapeutic Hypothermia (TH), lowering the core temperature for 24 hours, has been demonstrated to ameliorate neurological outcome, but unfortunately during that period it is not possible to evaluate patient’s neurological status and estimate prognosis.

Serial measurement of neuron specific enolase improves prognostication in cardiac arrest patients treated with hypothermia: A prospective study
BACKGROUND Neuron specific enolase (NSE) has repeatedly been evaluated for neurological prognostication in patients after cardiac arrest. However, it is unclear whether current guidelines for NSE cutoff levels also apply to cardiac arrest patients treated with hypothermia. Thus, we investigated the prognostic significance of absolute NSE levels and NSE kinetics in cardiac arrest patients treate...
متن کاملImproved Early Postresuscitation EEG Activity for Animals Treated with Hypothermia Predicted 96 hr Neurological Outcome and Survival in a Rat Model of Cardiac Arrest
PURPOSE To investigate the effect of hypothermia on 96 hr neurological outcome and survival by quantitatively characterizing early postresuscitation EEG in a rat model of cardiac arrest. MATERIALS AND METHODS In twenty male Sprague-Dawley rats, cardiac arrest was induced through high frequency transesophageal cardiac pacing. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was initiated after 5 mins untreated a...
متن کاملAssessment of Procalcitonin to Predict Outcome in Hypothermia-Treated Patients after Cardiac Arrest
Objective. Determine the potential of procalcitonin (PCT) to predict neurological outcome after hypothermia treatment following cardiac arrest. Methods. Retrospective analysis of patient data over a 2-year period. Mortality and neurological outcome of survivors were determined 6 months after cardiac arrest using the Cerebral Performance Category (CPC) score. Results. Data from 53 consecutive pa...

SETTING Medical intensive care unit. PATIENTS Sixty patients admitted to the intensive care unit for therapeutic hypothermia after cardiac arrest. INTERVENTION None. متن کاملThe prognostic value of gray-white-matter ratio in cardiac arrest patients treated with hypothermia
BACKGROUND Mild therapeutic hypothermia alters the validity of a number of parameters currently used to predict neurological outcome after cardiac arrest and resuscitation. Thus, additional parameters are needed to increase certainty of early prognosis in these patients. A promising new approach is the determination of the gray-white-matter ratio (GWR) in cranial computed tomography (CCT) obtai...
